Have you ever wondered why companies have switched to touchscreens in the cars? It may seem luxurious to be able to touch a screen and have infinite menus available, but the reason why car manufacturers have done that is to save money.
All those knobs and buttons cost money. Cost a lot more money to run wires to all those switches than it does to put a tablet or iPad? in the middle of your screen.
The problem with those touchscreen is that they are distracting. Imagine just for a moment that you want to get to the second sub menu in your cars info-tainment system. You touch the screen, and there’s a two second delay before the next menu is available. You touch the screen again and there’s another two second delay before you get to the menu you wanted. That whole time you were staring at the screen, thinking about the screen and touching that screen. That was four seconds that you closed your eyes from the road.
